The Association of Romanians in New England invites you to the “Songs and Dances of Halloween in Eastern Europe” concert on Sunday October 26th at 3 pm at Park Avenue Congregational Church in Arlington, 50 Paul Revere Rd. Arlington MA, 02472
Romania, the land of dark and spooky legends, has a rich tapestry of traditions around death, afterlife, and all kinds of spirits, with boundaries between living and the dead being porous. The living actively influence the dead’s fate through rituals, ensuring harmony between the worlds. Some of those rituals are remembered around Halloween and All Saints’ Day.
The concert will include Romanian folk songs as well as Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death cycle. Performers include Dana Pentia, Olga Rogach, Andreea Dersidan, and others. Free admission but as always donations are appreciated.
